1. Who we are

tikkr is a live translation service for multilingual classrooms and meetings, accessible through a web app and a browser extension. We are the controller of personal data processed in connection with the service. For data-protection questions, contact us at support@trytikkr.com.

2. What we collect

We process the following categories of personal data:

  • Account data. Your email address, any display name you set, and the role you select (host or listener). Collected when you sign up so we can deliver the service and contact you about it.
  • Content you provide. When a host runs a session, we process the spoken audio from that session and produce live transcripts and translations from it. Hosts may also save lessons; in that case the resulting transcripts are stored under the host's account.
  • Usage and device data. Basic information about how you use the service: browser type, language preference, approximate region, connection metadata, and the timestamps and outcomes of your requests. Used for security, abuse prevention, and product improvement.
  • Support data. When you contact us, we keep the message and any attachments so we can answer and follow up.

3. How we use your data

  • To deliver live translation during your session and to send the translated stream to listeners.
  • To make the product more reliable and accurate during this early-access phase, including by reviewing samples internally for quality auditing.
  • To respond to your support requests and account questions.
  • To detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents.
  • To comply with our legal obligations.

We do not use your audio, transcripts, or translations to train third-party AI models.

4. Audio retention during early access

tikkr is in an early-access phase. To make the product safer and more accurate, we retain raw session audio for a limited window so that we can audit quality, debug issues, and review edge cases internally. Specifically:

  • Raw audio captured during a session is retained for up to 90 days, then deleted on a rolling schedule.
  • Access is restricted to a small number of authorised staff and is used only for quality auditing, debugging, and improving the service.
  • Audio is never sold, never used for advertising, and never used to train third-party AI models.
  • You can ask us to delete your audio sooner by emailing support@trytikkr.com; we will action the request within 30 days.

Once early access ends, we will revise this retention window and post the change on this page in advance.

5. Cookies and local storage

We use strictly necessary cookies for sign-in, security, and remembering your language preference. The browser extension also stores a minimal amount of session state on your own device so you do not have to sign in for every session. We do not use advertising cookies, social-network widgets, or cross-site trackers.

6. Who we share data with

We share personal data only with third-party service providers that help us run tikkr (for example, infrastructure, transcription, translation, and email delivery). These providers act as processors under a written agreement, are bound by confidentiality, and may only use the data on our instructions to deliver the service.

We never sell personal data. We disclose data to public authorities only when we are legally required to do so.

7. International transfers

Where our processors are located outside the European Economic Area, transfers are protected by appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses. Where technically feasible, we default to EU-region endpoints for hosting and storage.

8. How long we keep data

  • Account data: for as long as your account is active, and for a reasonable period afterwards if needed for legal or accounting purposes.
  • Session audio: up to 90 days during the early-access phase, then deleted on a rolling schedule.
  • Transcripts and saved lessons: for as long as you keep them in your account; you can delete them at any time.
  • Service logs: up to 90 days, longer where required to investigate a specific incident.

9. Your rights

Subject to applicable law, you can ask us to:

  • confirm what personal data we hold about you and receive a copy (access);
  • correct inaccurate or incomplete data (rectification);
  • delete your account and associated personal data (erasure);
  • export your account data in a structured, machine-readable format (portability);
  • restrict or object to certain kinds of processing;
  • withdraw consent at any time, where processing is based on consent.

Email support@trytikkr.com and we will respond within 30 days. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.

10. Security

We follow industry-standard practices to protect your data. Traffic is encrypted in transit, stored data is protected with access controls, and production access is limited to a small number of staff with two-factor authentication. No service can guarantee absolute security, but we work to keep your data safe and to respond quickly to incidents.

11. Children

tikkr is intended for adults. When the service is used in a classroom or other setting that involves minors, the adult host is responsible for telling participants that the session is being processed (and, during the early-access phase, recorded for quality auditing) and for obtaining any consent required by local law, including from a parent or guardian.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated to active users, and the revision date at the top of this page will be updated.
