Terms of Service
Last updated: 22 May 2026. We will post the revision date on any future update and, for material changes, communicate the update to active users in advance.
1. Acceptance of these terms
By creating a tikkr account, joining a session, or otherwise using the service, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use tikkr. If you are using the service on behalf of an organisation, you confirm that you have authority to bind that organisation to these terms.
2. What we provide
tikkr is a live translation service for spoken content in multilingual meetings and classrooms. A host opens a session and speaks; participants listen or read in their preferred language. The service is accessible through a web app and a browser extension.
tikkr is a translation aid produced by automated systems, not a certified interpreter.
3. Eligibility and accounts
You must be 18 or older to create a host account. You agree to provide an accurate email address and to keep your sign-in credentials confidential. You are responsible for activity that happens under your account. Notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorised use; we will revoke affected sessions at your request.
Participants can join an open session with a join code without creating an account. Participation is governed by these terms regardless.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the service to break applicable law, including data-protection, consumer-protection, sanctions, or anti-discrimination rules;
- harass, threaten, defame, or impersonate others, or generate or distribute content that is unlawful, abusive, or designed to deceive participants;
- attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or otherwise derive the underlying logic of the service, or to extract our intellectual property;
- bypass rate limits, scrape the service, or use automated means to access it without our written permission;
- gain unauthorised access to other users' accounts, sessions, or data;
- resell, sublicense, or otherwise commercially redistribute access to the service without a written agreement with us.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that materially breach this clause. For non-material issues we will notify you first and give reasonable time to fix the issue.
5. Your content
You retain ownership of the audio and text you provide to the service. By using tikkr you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to process that content as necessary to deliver the service to you and the participants in your session, and (during the early-access phase) to retain a copy for internal quality auditing and improvement as described in our Privacy Policy.
We do not use your content to train third-party AI models. The tikkr software, brand, and website content remain owned by us or our licensors and may not be copied, redistributed, or modified beyond the rights granted in these terms.
6. Recording and participant consent
If you host a session, you are responsible for telling participants that the session is being processed to produce live translations and (during the early-access phase) recorded for quality auditing, and for obtaining any consent required by the law of the session's location. Consent rules differ by country and region; the host is responsible for compliance.
7. Early access and service availability
tikkr is currently in an early-access phase. The service is offered on a best-effort basis and may be interrupted, changed, or withdrawn. Quality and availability also depend on third-party providers that help us run the service; outages or quality degradations at those providers will affect tikkr.
8. Accuracy disclaimer
Automated transcription and translation can contain errors, especially with proper nouns, jargon, accents, or overlapping speech. Do not rely on tikkr as the sole channel of communication in safety-critical, medical, legal, financial, or other high-stakes contexts. Always verify important content independently.
9. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, tikkr is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or exemplary damages, including loss of profits, loss of data, or business interruption.
Our aggregate liability for any claim arising out of the service is limited to the greater of (a) the fees paid by you to tikkr in the twelve months preceding the claim, and (b) one hundred euros (EUR 100). Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
10. Termination
You can stop using tikkr at any time. To delete your account and associated personal data, email support@trytikkr.com. We may suspend or terminate your access for material breach of these terms, for non-payment of any paid plan, or for legal or safety reasons; we will notify you when feasible.
11. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy describes what personal data we process, how we use it, how long we keep it, and how you can exercise your rights.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms to reflect new features, legal requirements, or operational changes. Material changes will be communicated to active users in advance. Continued use of the service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Spain. Disputes that cannot be resolved informally are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts competent at the operator's place of residence in Spain, subject to any non-waivable consumer rights under the law of your place of residence.
